Stenciled, marbled, printed and over dyed papers from around the world are cut, pieced and then stitched using a zig-zag sewing machine. Once combined, the papers are reinvented into a composition of rich new patterns, vivid colors and striking textures. The image is then completed with a border, also of paper, and the result is a one of a kind paper art quilt.

Water, vegetation and climate exist in a fascinating and interconnected system where each component cooperates to create a life supporting sustaining cycle. Vegetation takes up liquid water from soil via roots and releases water vapor into the air through leaf pores. Vegetation acts as a catalyst for the Water Cycle across the earth’s climate, first, by regulating atmospheric moisture and, second, by creating balanced conditions for water storage in the soil. This piece addresses the remarkable native intelligence and the durability of this working relationship.

It was the summer of 2008 when I began my journey with the art of quilting with paper. Thirteen years later this posting is a 'look back' at some of my favorite pieces, presented in no particular order. These pieces have been sold, donated or have otherwise found a home.
Below is my very first Paper Art Quilt created in May of 2008.
